This list only includes a portion of the popular 3D movies that parents & their kids have rushed to go see. After seeing the amazing graphics in movies like the ones listed above, watchers are eager to see what type of movies are in store for the next year to come. In 2017, movies such as The Lego Ninjago, Captain Underpants, and The Beauty & the Beast will be released in theaters. These future movies already have a popular name which will draw viewers in even more. Needless to say, 2017 should be a great year for the CG Industry!

If you’re looking to get away from this unpredictable Cleveland weather, Las Vegas is hosting an event November 7th through 9th called The International Conference and Expo on Computer Graphics & Animation. Even if your busy life and paycheck won’t let you attend, it would be a great event to read about after it takes place. This conference includes information on animation, graphics, technology, history, trends, and more. Students are also more than welcomed to share ideas with professionals who will attend. Talk about a resume builder!

Unfortunately, one of Canada’s largest animation companies recently filed for bankruptcy. Arc Productions created the animation of the popular movie, Gnomeo & Juliet, which aired in February of 2011. The movie was made for children and was highly successful. Arc posted a sign on their door, notifying workers that there had been a “liquidity crisis”. One of the employees commented stating that she had not been notified by email, call, etc. It was a shock for her. The Facebook profile for Arc Productions has also been taken down.

The BFX Festival is taking place October 8-16 this year! Scott Eaton and Michael Defeo will be in charge of a workshop involving sculpturing. Defeo worked in the movies Ice Age, Minions, and Secret Life of Pets. This would definitely be an interesting event to read about and see how it goes.
